The Bianca Cappello Apartment

The romantic details of original 14th century frescoes over the queen bed and wide and bright living room where our guests can relax, make this apartment the perfect choice for honeymoons.
Bianca Cappello is a 33 m² (355ft²) apartment
situated on the ground floor and divided into a bottom floor and an upper wooden mezzanine floor which balance the wide area of the flat.

The mezzanine holds one queen-sized bed (or two single beds upon request), an old wooden desk, a big mirror and a lovely basic bathroom, all under a beautifully arched ceiling. Although many details have been lost over the years, the walls are still mostly decorated with authentic 14th century frescoes. You can recognize a lot of citrus trees, typical subject of the “secret gardens” much represented in that period and a dove, icon of peace and love.

The ground floor offers a fully-equipped kitchen, a wooden table for dining, a laundry with pods, a comfortable and easy-to-use double sofa bed, a HD TV, and a second bathroom with shower, sink and small window in a typical Mediterranean mosaic floor and light blue walls. Large arched windows in the main room reach from the floor to the ceiling and allow abundant light in, making the apartment a wonderful and cozy place to call home.

This apartment is ideal for couples or two co-travelers, but also for families with two to three children. Bianca Capello is situated just few steps from the front door and very close to our basement, where all the guests have complete access to more services as the laundry and water machine.

Who is Bianca Cappello?

Daughter of the Venetian nobleman Bartolomeo Cappello, Bianca was famous for her beauty and refinement. Only 15 years old, she married the Florentine gentleman Pietro Bonaventuri and she moved to Florence where she met Cosimo’ s eldest son, Francesco I de ‘Medici who was attracted by her. Francesco seduced Bianca giving her jewels, clothes and getting to hire Bianca among the court bridesmaids. After the deaths of their spouses, Francesco married Bianca secretly. Their union was made public only on June 10, 1579. But their marriage was not lasting, however: in 1587 after a dinner together they suffered tremendous fevers, although there was no lack of suspicions of poisoning. First Francesco and then Bianca died after eleven days of agony, without each other knowing.
